Father’s Day Gifts Should Reflect Your Dad’s Interests

Preparing for Father’s Day shouldn’t have to be a struggle.  You already know lots of gifts your father doesn’t want – he probably doesn’t need another tie or pair of socks, for example, unless he has a secret life as an undercover fashion model.  The real gift any son or daughter can give their father is the gift of thoughtfulness.  Really think about your dad’s interests and hobbies, and then tailor a gift that really is just for him.

For example, a lot of dads are golfers, and golf equipment can be kind of a clichéd gift.  But if that’s what your dad loves to do, make it special and have something personalized for him, like a monogrammed golf bag with his initials on it, or a custom-made polo shirt in his favorite color.  Treat him to a round of golf on a course he wouldn’t spend the money on for just himself.  Even if you don’t know the difference between an eagle and a mulligan, spend some time researching the game so you and he can connect over something he likes to do.  If nothing else, you can drive the golf cart while he enjoys his round!  The point is, dads often feel like what they enjoy goes unnoticed – so make sure your dad knows not just how important he is as your father, but how special he is as a person.
