A Gift Basket Worth Envying

There is always that one person on your shopping list that is nearly impossible to find the perfect gift for. Either they have “everything” or they are incredibly picky about what they get or use on a daily basis. A good majority of people revert to gift cards for these people, but gift cards can be so impersonal. It can make the gift receiver feel like you have no clue “Who” they really are. That is where a gift basket can work out perfectly.

Gift baskets are a great idea, because you can take a theme that the person likes and create a large gift out of smaller items that pertain to that theme. You can then decide how expensive or inexpensive the items included can be, thus creating the perfect gift for both the receiver and your budget.

The creation of a basket is easy. You start with the basket itself. Don’t limit yourself to just baskets either, use handy items such as bowls or storage boxes. Then, you need filler; most people choose to use a colorful shredded paper. You can then arrange your items so that they look attractive, and throw the whole basket into a large colored cellophane bag. Tie the bag, put on a ribbon or bow, and attach a card, and voila- A gift basket worth envying.

A great idea for a man in your life would be a sports-team themed basket. You can start with a basket or basket filler, such as shredded or metallic paper that is the team colors. Some team colored foods, such as chocolate candies or colored tortilla chips are inexpensive items that take up space. Some other great sports team items are stickers for the car, license plate frames, glasses or mugs, can cozies, or ink pens. You can even include clothing, such as baseball hats, t-shirts, or team-themed socks.

Women are a lot easier to please then men. A great theme for a lady would be a “day at the spa”. You could included several types of lotions, body and facial scrubs, hand treatments, bath oils, candles, and even a CD of relaxing music. Step it up to include a favorite fragrance or a manicure set including cuticle oils and nail polishes.

Children are the easiest. Every child now-a-days has a favorite television show, and each show has a large magnitude of items that they market. You can start with a colored basket, filled with colored paper. Then use coloring books, stickers, crayons, small toys and even items like band-aids or clothing are appropriate. If the child doesn’t like a particular cartoon character, you can always just do a generic basket themed toward the child’s age and time of year. There isn’t a five year old who doesn’t love water guns and bubbles in the summer, or doesn’t need gloves or a hat come snow season.

Making gift baskets are exciting and easy. It sure beats giving a gift card, and it can take very little time or money on your part. Opening a large, colorful basket is way better than opening a simple card.
